The CEPS Steering Committee based its decisions on candidates’ demonstrated strong support of its mission, which is founded upon dedication to the preservation and betterment of public schools in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD), whose geographic boundaries include the City of Santa Monica and the City of Malibu.

Many local candidates display admirable dedication to education and the youth of our community.  Of those candidates seeking the CEPS endorsement, only the above 12 garnered the 60% support of the Steering Committee required to gain endorsement.

“Community for Excellent Public Schools wholeheartedly endorses these 12 candidates for their commitment to high quality public education and their recognition of the importance of good schools to the whole community,” commented Shari Davis, Chair of Community for Excellent Public Schools.  “We look forward to working with them to pursue policies that reflect these mutual values and support public education locally, countywide and statewide.”
